This Room Is An Island is an immersive performance experience, where you walk into an in-between world of technology, dance, history and architecture.
Defined in all dimensions, This Room is an Island is fully interactive and inhabitable.
The multimedia performance is a space-within-space built by two generations’ memories of belonging and not belonging to the same world(s).
Exploring the challenging themes of nationalism, control, discrimination, movement politics, surveillance, convergence, assimilation and police-state power.
THIS ROOM IS AN ISLAND MIHI TO THE MANA WHENUA OF HENDERSON, TE KAWERAU Ā MAKI, AND OF CENTRAL AUCKLAND, NGĀTI WHATUA ŌRAKEI. WE ACKNOWLEDGE THE IMMENSE PRIVILEGE TO CREATE AND SHARE THIS WORK ON MĀORI LAND.
